Soap at Scotch Hill Farm is hand-crafted with milk to moisturize your skin. Our customers praise its gentle qualities. Yet this soap also contributes to ecology by sustaining a balanced way of farming, a small family farm, nonrenewable resources and the land.
Our soap is creamy and mild. It’s scented with herbs and flowers we grow or with essential oils (extracts from plants) and natural fragrances. We mill (refine) more than 20 varieties of milk soap. Milling helps them last a long time, hold their fragrance and maintain texture and shape.
And when you buy soap from Scotch Hill Farm, you help our family add value to our milk. This helps us keep livestock in production on the land instead of in confinement. It sustains our crops with rich organic matter instead of energy-dependent and soil-acidifying chemical fertilizer.
Scotch Hill Farm has been growing and selling vegetables and herbs direct market since 1994. We use NO chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. We pasture our livestock and purchase certified organic feed. We’re committed to farming in ways that sustain the Earth, safeguard soil fertility and protect water quality. We handcraft our soap with the same care and concern for you.
What’s in the soap?
All of us should know what’s in the soap that daily touches our skin. Some types of soap are distilled petroleum products. Some take out their most valuable ingredient – glycerin – for other uses and applications. Our soap is
simply goat milk and saponified vegetable oils. Glycerin, a natural byproduct of the soap-making process, is not removed.
Varieties and Sizes
Bar soap comes in 3 basic sizes, a large bath bar (7 or 9 ounces); a hand or facial soap (about 3 ounces) and fun shapes (angels, hearts, sea shells, turtles and animal shapes (1.5 to 4 ounces). We can customize soap in large quantities. Varieties include:
Lavender (a calming flower)
Rosemary Mint (increases blood flow and can soothe muscles as a mild liniment)
Sun Up (grapefruit & ginger)
Lemon Grass with Chamomile
Honey Oatmeal (adds moisturizing qualities and softens skin)
Apple Oat
Jasmine-orange Calendula (healing flower used in first aid & anti-aging creams)
Cranberry, Lilac, Bayberry, Pear, Cherry Almond, Cranberry fig (our most fragrant varieties, each use a natural colorant – FDA approved)
Cinnamon (with real herbs and a natural brown color)
Gardeners’ Soap (crushed corn and a blend of ingredients to remove stains, sooth skin and repel insects).
Tea Tree with comfrey (a natural antiseptic oil for mild rashes and skin irritations)
Pure, unscented (milk soap for sensitive skin)

Our liquid soap contains milk, too. It’s a head-to-toe body wash that makes a great shampoo. Varieties include Lavender, Grapefruit, Rosemary Mint, Tea Tree, Apple, Cranberry, Rose Patch, Lemon Grass. It’s available in 8 oz. ($6.95), 4 oz. ($3.95) sizes.
We also make lotion butter with shea butter, massage oils, bath salts, all natural bug repellent and an all natural lip balm with beeswax, and essential oils.
Pet Products
Dog Shampoo Bar available in a puppy gift box ($3.85), 8oz bath bar ($5.95) and 4oz Boot's Bath Liquid ($5.95).
Gift Boxes – We put together a package that’s great for bridal showers, birthdays, anniversaries or “Just Because!” It contains a bar soap, a 2 oz. lotion butter jar, lip balm OR bath salts and 4 oz. bottle of Head-to-toe Body Wash. It’s available year-round for $12.95. We also have smaller gift boxes for $4 to $6 (angels, fruit shape samplers, sun & moon.)
